Wild Fiction

‘Okay, you’ve made your point,’ he said in a bitter tone.
Genevieve did not take long to fall asleep. The author heard her breathing deeply and went into the bathroom. He picked up the bottle of Clarins Moisturiser that she had been using and used it as lubricant to masturbate before going back to bed and eventually falling asleep.

Chapter 56

‘Our friend Betelgeuse has had his nose broken by a couple of inmates,’ James said waving a copy of The Times in the air as he walked into the kitchen. The others were sitting at the breakfast bar eating. James breathed in deeply through his nose. The air was redolent with the smell of toast. Conrad pulled his stool to one side so James could fit in.
‘What does it say?’ the author asked.
‘It doesn’t give much in the way of details. It just says that his nose was broken in a fight last night, that he’s in the infirmary now and the doctors are going to set it today. Pass the butter please.’ James stretched over, pulled a piece of toast out of the toast rack, and buttered it on the surface of the counter. He spread an inch thick layer of blackberry jam on top of it before eating from the corner.
‘Why would something as trivial as a broken nose in a prison fight make the newspapers?’ Rebecca asked.
‘The public love to hear about toffs, Lords, and Sirs getting their comeuppance in prison. They feel that it’s poetic justice that they not only serve time but get beaten up every now and then by the working class they’re forced to associated with. I’m not making this up either. That came out of a survey I read in the newspaper.’
‘What? The Sun?’
‘I don’t only read The Sun,’ James said a blob of jam running down his chin.
Rebecca looked at him and tapped her finger on her chin. He wiped the jam off with his index finger and licked it clean.
The phone rang. All eyes turned to it. The crunching of toast and slurping of tea stopped. Mugs were put down. It rang a third and then a fourth time. The author picked it up.
‘Yes...no,’ he said and passed the phone to Conrad.
